Don’t Dream It’s Over (2022 - 2024)

The exhibition "Don’t Dream It’s Over" is a site-responsive work presented as part of the MFA Graduates exhibition at the Bezalel Academy of Arts and Design in Tel Aviv- Jaffa in 2024.

The exhibition is a ‘Dream Site.’ The experience of dreaming is not devoid of logic but is governed by different rules. Through the use of defense mechanisms like displacement, condensation, and symbolization, threatening contents disguise themselves within other images, thereby unraveling the logic of the dream. The exhibition displays six enigmatic images without a concrete narrative, allowing viewers to form a potential subjective and reflexive narrative.

The exhibition was located in the shelter space on the -1 floor of the building. The shelter consists of two nearly identical spaces, underground and intensely physical. The conversion of the shelter space into an exhibition space, particularly during a time of war, recontextualizes its inherent functionality. The choice of this space is rooted in its character and location within the building's structure, much like the content of dreams stems from the subconscious; the shelter is situated below the surface, hidden from sight and daily life.

The physical space of the exhibition serves as a narrative framework for fragmented images. The exhibition is a place where time is not linear but rather a cumulative experience of memories and repressions. The images offer a complex view of the relationships between the image and reality, between the visible and the absent. The actions in the space involve subtle, hidden movements with no clear boundaries, existing in the unresolved tension between an artistic act and a potential occurrence in the space.
